a written challenge to a duel

ACTION LETTER #34: Jan. 16th, 2020

--Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020--

Dear Activist Cartel,
On Tuesday November 3rd, 2020, I want you to be able to look yourself in the mirror and know that you did everything you could to prevent 4 more years of Trump's presidency.

Everyone that I know has been asking me, "What can I do?"
Well, 2020 has finally come, and it's time to kick it into high gear.

Learn about the 12 SUPER STATES (state map below):
Swing Left's strategies and 3 reasons why we should focus on these states.

2.) Commit to Canvassing in a Super State this year:
Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, since the following counties alone could determine the presidential election:
Grand Rapids, Michigan
Racine County, Wisconsin
Erie, Pennsylvania

--In my experience, canvassing is the best way to secure votes. It's really rewarding when you swing a vote, which happens a lot more than you think!
--I personally will be planning 2-3 fun canvassing trips with friends over the summer and fall. I'm trying to find places in those 3 states where we know people locally. Then we can engage local friends and mobilize them to keep canvassing even after we leave town. Please reach out to me if you want to be a part of this!

3.) Write Postcards to Super State voters:
--Sign up with
Vote Forward to send letters to voters.
--If you live in Los Angeles, I whole-heartedly recommend that you come to a
HODG (Hang Out Do Good) event, organized by my brilliant friend Jennifer Levin. Almost every Sunday, we're post-carding voters, eating donuts around a kitchen table, and having a great time. Additional local activism events are posted on her website regularly, and I encourage you to sign up for her emails.

4.) Fire Mitch McConnell:
Donate to the Ditch Mitch Campaign, which is educating KY voters on McConnell's despicable record. They're also mobilizing local voters/volunteers & supporting his eventual Democratic opponent with grassroots fundraising.
--McConnell's KY approval rating is lower than it's ever been at 18%. As Senate Majority Leader, he has the most power to block any progressive movement, so activism around his Senate race is well worth the effort!

5.) Commit to Volunteering for and Voting for the eventual Democratic Nominee.
Your first choice candidate might not be the nominee. The sooner we can all wrap our head around that and get on the same team, the better!

The day after the election, I want you to feel like you did everything you could to help prevent another 4 years of Trump.

Let's do this!!
