-- Child Detention Camps --

Dear Activist Cartel,

Recently, several lawyers have become whistleblowers by detailing the nightmarish conditions that detained immigrant children are enduring, after being separated from their family at the border.

They've detailed that children...
-"have no access to toothbrushes, toothpaste or soap."
-"Nearly every child I spoke with said that they were hungry.”
-"Children as young as 7 and 8, many of them wearing clothes caked with snot and tears, are caring for infants they’ve just met."
-"Toddlers without diapers are relieving themselves in their pants."
-“There is a stench. The overwhelming majority of children have not bathed since they crossed the border.”
-"So many children are sick, they have the flu, and they’re not being properly treated."
-"The United States is taking children away from their family unit and reclassifying them as unaccompanied children."

It's gut-wrenching. The lawyers have found that in almost all cases, there is a family member based in the U.S. that the child could be immediately placed with, but instead the child is being separated and detained at the tax-payer's expense of $775/day/child. Who knows where that money is going because it's certainly not caring for that child. It's crazy, and we can do more to help! Please don't look away...

What You Need to Know About the Crisis at the Border (and what you can do to help)
An easy-to-read recap of what's happening.

2.) Donate your Airline Miles to help coordinate travel for immigrants, refugees, asylum-seekers, and attorneys providing pro-bono immigration services.
Lawyer Moms of America and Immigrant Families Together created very easy donation forms. They will let you know how your miles are to be used before any ticket purchases are completed. Oftentimes, airline miles expire so donate them before that happens!

3.) Donate Children's Shoes:
The photo below shows a child who arrived to the Humanitarian Respite Center recently with shoes made out of ICE's aluminum "blankets." Children's shoes are often needed, and you can donate by mailing shoes to:
Humanitarian Respite Center
Catholic Charities RGV

McAllen, TX 78501
Here is a post from a volunteer on the ground.

4.) Attend a Protest: There are so many cities/events involved for both of these dates! Click the links to find a location near you.

5.) Volunteer
Use the Brightest search engine to find immigrant defense organizations near you and ways to volunteer with them. Choose "immigrants" and your city in the drop-down menu. Or choose any other cause that inspires you because this is a great resource to make a difference!

Please don't look away.
These children don't deserve this treatment.
Help however you can!
