THE ACTIVIST CARTEL

ACTION LETTER #23: January 11th, 2018

--Women's March 2018--

Dear Activist Cartel,

We must show up to these moments in history. We must March. Donate. Support the women around us, or nothing will ever change.

ACTION ITEMS:

1.) Show Up for the Jan. 20th, 2018 Women's March!
Make travel plans, invite friends, coordinate meeting locations, spread the word!
Men, please join and march in solidarity!

--
FIND A MARCH NEAR YOU. Many cities only have a FB page with marching info, so also search there. It's helpful to RSVP to your respective event in order to get updates and help the organizers properly prepare.
--Attend the
National Women's March Anniversary: Power to the Polls in Las Vegas the following day, Sunday Jan. 21st. There will be incredible speakers and ways to take action beyond marching.

--
LOS ANGELES: I'm organizing an Activist Cartel group to march with again!
Meeting time: 8:30am (walking to Pershing Square at 9am)
Meeting location:
The Sheraton Grand Hotel Lobby
711 S. Hope St., LA, 90017
RSVP: to me by replying to this email (so we don't leave without you) and to
Facebook to spread the word and help the organizers prepare. Feel free to invite friends to our meet-up! It was so fun and awe-inspiring last year... you won't want to miss it!

2.) Support Black Women Running for Office: It was black women who
delivered the Doug Jones Senate win in Alabama, setting the rigor of activism and high moral standard that we all should be following. And thankfully, there are a lot of candidates who meet this standard who we can support!
--Review this list of
"100+ Black Women Running for Office in 2018" and find women in your state or your friend's/family's state to support. Promote their candidacy, tell your friends about them, and DONATE to their campaigns! We have a lot of new women running for office, but unfortunately, women don't donate to political campaigns as much as men. Let's change that!
--I'm personally supporting:
Stacey Abrams for Georgia's Governor, Stephany Rose Spaulding for Colorado's U.S. House Representative CO-5 that covers my hometown Colorado Springs, and Lucy McBath for Georgia's State Representative HD-37 because she's one of the most inspiring gun control advocates I've had the pleasure of knowing. Please support them or find candidates who inspire you and support them!

3.) Donate to the TIME'S UP Legal Defense Fund, so that any woman who faces sexual harassment or discrimination can access subsidized and comprehensive legal support.
--
Donate and Learn More about how the powerhouse women of Hollywood are standing in solidarity with women across all industries. Now all survivors, particularly ones working in low-wage industries, will have the resources to fight back.
--I imagine everyone has already seen
Oprah's Golden Globes speech highlighting the Time's Up movement, but here it is, just in case you haven't given a bawling standing ovation in the privacy of your home yet.

Marching forward!
